About Net North West

Net North West plays a vital role within the North West's academic and reserach communities. Many of our users don't actually realise that they use Net North West every day.

Net North West is a regional network which provides academic and research institutions such as Universities, Colleges and Science Parks across the North West and parts of Staffordshire with their high speed internet access (via connections to the national JANET network), and allows them to share large amounts of often complex data with each other at great speeds.

The Network is formed of a series of over and underground cables and radio signals which run between institutions to connect them together. Data can travel through these connections which means that those who are part of the network can comunicate with each other and share resources and information quickly and easily.
